Stake ranks players by lifetime wager. Each VIP level starts at a fixed total, and the VIP page shows how far you are into the current gap as a percentage. The Stake VIP calculator (opens in new tab) turns that level and percentage into a wager figure, and then into the amount that wager is expected to cost you at the house edge of the game you play it on.
The ladder
There are 15 ranked levels above Unranked. Each one starts at the wager below.
| Level | Starts at | Gap to the next level |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze | $10,000 | $40,000 |
| Silver | $50,000 | $50,000 |
| Gold | $100,000 | $150,000 |
| Platinum | $250,000 | $250,000 |
| Platinum II | $500,000 | $500,000 |
| Platinum III | $1,000,000 | $1,500,000 |
| Platinum IV | $2,500,000 | $2,500,000 |
| Platinum V | $5,000,000 | $5,000,000 |
| Platinum VI | $10,000,000 | $15,000,000 |
| Diamond | $25,000,000 | $25,000,000 |
| Diamond II | $50,000,000 | $50,000,000 |
| Diamond III | $100,000,000 | $150,000,000 |
| Diamond IV | $250,000,000 | $250,000,000 |
| Diamond V | $500,000,000 | $500,000,000 |
| Obsidian | $1,000,000,000 | Top level |
The gaps grow faster than the levels. Bronze to Silver is $40,000. Platinum VI to Diamond is $15,000,000, which is more than the whole ladder up to that point.
How the calculator works
The calculator needs two numbers from your Stake VIP page: the level you are on and the progress percentage.
wager left = gap to next level × (100 − progress %) / 100
If you know your lifetime wager instead, enter that. The calculator finds the level it falls in and the remainder of the gap the same way. Either input gives the same answer, because the percentage Stake shows is just your position inside the current gap.
What the wager costs
Wagering is not spending. Most of what you bet comes back as wins, and the amount that does not, on average, is the house edge of the game. So the expected cost of any wager is:
expected cost = wager × house edge
The calculator prices the wager on the cheapest settings of each game. Blackjack with basic strategy has a 0.51% edge. Mines cashed out after 5 tiles with 3 mines is 0.87%. Keno at high risk with 10 picks is 0.99%. Dice, Limbo, HiLo and Wheel are 1% at every setting.
| From | Wager | Blackjack 0.51% | Mines 0.87% | Keno 0.99% | 1% games |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze to Silver | $40,000 | $202 | $348 | $397 | $400 |
| Silver to Gold | $50,000 | $253 | $435 | $496 | $500 |
| Gold to Platinum | $150,000 | $759 | $1,304 | $1,488 | $1,500 |
| Platinum to Platinum II | $250,000 | $1,265 | $2,174 | $2,479 | $2,500 |
| Platinum VI to Diamond | $15,000,000 | $75,915 | $130,440 | $148,755 | $150,000 |
| Diamond V to Obsidian | $500,000,000 | $2,530,500 | $4,348,000 | $4,958,500 | $5,000,000 |
These are averages over a very large number of bets. A real session lands above or below them, and the spread is wider on high-variance settings. The house edge guide works through how far a session can drift from its expected return, and the Profit and Loss (opens in new tab) page shows what your own bet archive actually returned per game.
Sports bets count three to one
Casino bets add their stake to VIP progress one to one. A settled sports bet adds three times its stake. The calculator shows the sports equivalent beside every wager figure: $40,000 of casino wager from Bronze to Silver is the same progress as $13,333 in sports bets.
Whether that is cheaper depends on the margin built into the odds you take, which varies by market and is not something a calculator can price for you.
A worked example
Platinum at 40% progress:
gap = $500,000 − $250,000 = $250,000 wager left = $250,000 × 0.60 = $150,000 sports = $150,000 / 3 = $50,000 expected cost Blackjack $150,000 × 0.005061 = $759 1% games $150,000 × 0.01 = $1,500
That is the whole calculation. The VIP Calculator (opens in new tab)runs it for any level and percentage, lists every game’s edge, and updates when Stake changes its tables.
Questions
- How does the Stake VIP calculator work?
- You enter your current level and the progress percentage from your VIP page. The calculator multiplies the gap to the next level by the share you have not covered yet and reports the wager left, then prices that wager at each game's house edge. The VIP Calculator (opens in new tab) does this for every level.
- How much wager do I need for the next Stake VIP level?
- The full gaps are $40,000 from Bronze to Silver, $50,000 from Silver to Gold, $150,000 from Gold to Platinum and $250,000 from Platinum to Platinum II. Your remaining wager is the gap times the percentage still to go.
- What does it cost to level up on Stake?
- Expected cost is wager times house edge. The $150,000 from Gold to Platinum costs about $759 on Blackjack with basic strategy and $1,500 on any 1% game such as Dice, Limbo or Wheel. Real results swing around those figures.
- Do sports bets count toward Stake VIP?
- Yes, at three to one. A settled sports bet adds three times its stake to VIP progress, so the wager a level needs is a third as much in sports bets. The calculator shows both figures.
- Do losing bets count toward VIP progress?
- Yes. Progress is measured in wager, not profit. Every settled bet counts, whether it won or lost.
- Which game is cheapest for wagering?
- Blackjack with basic strategy, at a 0.51% house edge. Mines cashed out after 5 tiles with 3 mines is 0.87%, Keno at high risk with 10 picks is 0.99%, and Dice, Limbo, HiLo and Wheel are 1%. The house edge comparison (opens in new tab) lists every Original.
